SB 3031    RELATING TO HIGHWAYS                               TIA
        Allows use of HOV lanes by all vehicles between the
        hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Interstate Route
        H-1. Permits the use of Zipper Lanes by vehicles
        carrying two persons during specific hours. permits
        general use of the zipper lane during an accident or
        emergency on the H-1. (Kawamoto)

SB 2953    RELATING TO CONTROL OF VENDING                     TIA
        Clarifies provisions relating to activities which
        violate the public's "right-of-way." (Mizuguchi(BR))

SB 2114    RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES                         TIA
        Clarifies that the minimum membership requirement for
        organizations seeking special number license plates
        applies to nonprofit organizations and veterans groups
        and not to government agencies and educational
        institutions. (Hanabusa)

SB 2643    RELATING TO TRAFFIC OFFENSES                       TIA
        Replaces the term traffic "accident" with the term
        traffic "collision". (Mizuguchi(BR))

SB 2725    RELATING TO TOWING COMPANIES                       TIA
        Requires all towing companies, not only the ones being
        called to tow a vehicle, to have sign on vehicle doors

 
 
        with the name and telephone number of the towing
        business etc. (Kawamoto)

SB 2904    RELATING TO THE STATE FIRE COUNCIL                 TIA
        Allows the State Fire Council to coordinate statewide
        training, data collection, and contingency planning
        needs for firefighters. (Mizuguchi(BR))

SB 2903    RELATING TO THE STATE FIRE COUNCIL                 TIA
        Allows the county fire chief to name designees for
        certain functions and responsibilities.

SB 2316    RELATING TO DRIVER'S LICENSES                      TIA
        Permits the use of foreign language exames by examiner
        of drivers. (Kawamoto)

SB 2405    RELATING TO DRIVER'S LICENSE                       TIA
        Requires date that a youngster reaches age 18 to be
        printed on the driver's license. Effective 01/01/01.

SB 3102    RELATING TO DRIVER LICENSE RENEWAL BY MAIL         TIA
        Allows driver license to be renewed by mail if the
        previous issuance was accomplished in person.

SB 3100    RELATING TO TEMPORARY INSTRUCTION PERMIT           TIA
        Increases term of driver's license learner's permit
        from 180 days to one year. Eff. 1/1/01.

SB 2443    RELATING TO FAMILIES                           HHS,TIA
        Requires child abuse to be reported to either DHS or
        the police departments. (Chun Oakland)

SB 2621    RELATING TO HEALTH                             HHS,TIA
        Requires health care facilities to report all
        incidents of injuries and fatalities caused by
        fireworks to the department of health and the police
        department of the county in which the person was
        attended or treated. (Iwase)


        DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 copies of their
testimony to the committee clerk, Room 205, State Capitol, 24
hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less
than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at

least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please
indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and
time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for
submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the
measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for
shared use by members of the public.
